Today’s Feature is My Hubby’s Woodsy BBQ 40th Birthday Extravaganza! Brandon wanted something low key that oozed his personality. His two main requests were whiskey and the woods. Done!
We found a cabin on VRBO called Camp Festivus and knew that it had to be here! It was set in the Mt. Hood area of Oregon and guests were treated to a rustic BBQ featuring grilled organic New Season’s burgers, local Oregon Hopworks beer and some of Brandon’s favorite whiskies. The cabin had a kitschy hunter’s feel with roaring fire place and all. The deep wood was gorgeous all on its own and provided an amazing back drop for the event, but with a few DIY touches including: mason jars with tags as drink glasses, paper flag banners, tissue paper poms and fans, wine labels and much more, the party was fabulous in an understated kind of way! To top it off, there were homemade cupcakes, personalized M&M’s and a take away bag filled with Brandon’s favorite Whiskey and his secret to a good glass of chilled whiskey, the rocks!
Brandon’s friends and family stayed at the cabin where kids and adults enjoyed the stream in the back yard, the outdoor fire pit was watched, whiskey was sipped and hot tub fun ensued into the late night. Sometimes extravagance can be overrated, so why all the fuss?
Here are some photos of the special day:
I love Zazzle for so many reasons, including these cool invites and matching wine labels I was able to make for the Party.
Brandon isn’t a fan of “traditional” cake, but he loves a mean cheesecake! The decorative cake piece was made with 2 chops sticks, string and Cute Cardstock paper. Oh and that photo of him is edible! I was able to upload my own photo with Gogo Cakes and they shipped it to me super fast and it turned out perfect!
The Party Favors were a big hit for the adults.
Paper Fan Decorations. I purchased these from Celebrate Express and then made my own decorative centers with cardstock paper.
Mason Jars with Hand Made Tags for the tasty beverages.
The Table Set Up. The Gray Stripe Straws and Chevron Favor bags came from Shop Sweet Lulu’s.
The Hand Stamped Wood Cutlery, Cupcake Stands, Paper Doilies and Cupcake Tags I found at Papered Nest on Etsy.
The Sweet Stuff. Yumm!!
Enjoying the Scenery in the Backyard.
The family :)
Yay for Birthdays! Brandon’s 40th Birthday Celebration was truly a day to remember because it was simple, yet tasteful and uniquely him!
